How to add a DirectAdmin IMAP account in Microsoft Outlook?

What You Need Before You Start

  • Email address (e.g., user@domain.com)
  • Account password
  • IMAP and SMTP server settings (server names, ports, and encryption type). Example:
    • IMAP server: mail.domain.com | Port: 993 | Encryption: SSL/TLS
    • SMTP server: mail.domain.com | Port: 587 | Encryption: STARTTLS

Steps to Add an IMAP Account

Method 1: First-Time Outlook Setup

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. The account setup wizard will appear.
  3. Enter your email address and click Connect.
  4. Outlook will try to detect the settings automatically. If it fails, choose IMAP.
  5. Enter the settings manually:
  • Incoming mail server (IMAP):
    • Server: mail.domain.com
    • Port: 993
    • Encryption: SSL/TLS


  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP):
    • Server: mail.domain.com
    • Port: 587
    • Encryption: STARTTLS


  • Enter your password and click Connect.
  • Wait for the process to complete and click Done.

  • Method 2: Add Account from Outlook Interface

    1. Open Outlook.
    2. Go to File > Info > Add Account.


    3. Enter your email address and click Advanced Options > check Let me set up my account manually.


    4. Click Connect.
    5. Select IMAP.
    6. Fill in the server settings for IMAP and SMTP (same as above).
    7. Enter your password when prompted.
    8. Click Connect and then Done.
