What you need before you start
- Email address (e.g., user@domain.com)
- Account password
- IMAP and SMTP server settings (server names, ports, and encryption type). Example:
- IMAP server: mail.domain.com | Port: 993 | Encryption: SSL/TLS

SMTP server: mail.domain.com | Port: 465 | Encryption: SSL/TLS
Steps to add an IMAP account
Method 1: first-time Outlook setup
- Open Outlook.
- The account setup wizard will appear.
- Enter your email address and click Connect.
- Outlook will try to detect the settings automatically. If it fails, choose IMAP.
- Enter the settings manually:
- Incoming mail server (IMAP):
- Server: mail.domain.com
- Port: 993
- Encryption: SSL/TLS
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP):
- Server: mail.domain.com
- Port: 465
- Encryption: SSL/TLS
Enter your password and click Connect.
Wait for the process to complete and click Done.
Method 2: add account from Outlook interface
- Open Outlook.
- Go to File > Info > Add Account.
- Enter your email address and click Advanced Options > check Let me set up my account manually.
- Click Connect.
- Select IMAP.
- Fill in the server settings for IMAP and SMTP (same as above).
- Enter your password when prompted.
- Click Connect and then Done.
