Steps to add LXC templates in Proxmox
1. Log in to the Proxmox Web Interface
- Open a web browser and access the Proxmox web interface using your server’s IP address.
- Enter your admin credentials to log in.
2. Access the node’s storage
- In the left sidebar, select your node under the Datacenter section.
- Look for the "local" storage associated with the node (e.g.,

, or another configured storage option).
3. Download LXC templates from Proxmox
Proxmox provides a built-in system for downloading templates. Follow these steps:
- Select your node in the Datacenter.
- In the left panel, click on the "local" storage where you want to save the template.
- At the top, click the "CT Templates" tab.
- Click the "Templates" button to open the list of available LXC templates.
- Select the template for the OS you need (e.g., Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS).
- Click "Download" and wait for Proxmox to fetch and store the template.
4. Upload templates from your device (optional)
You can also use the "Upload" tab to load a template from the device you are using to connect to Proxmox.
5. Download templates from a URL (optional)
If you want to download a template from a website, follow these steps:
- Go to the "Download from URL" tab.
- Enter the URL of the template file.
- Click "Query URL" to verify and fetch the file from the website.
- Then, click "Download" to download and store the template on your Proxmox server.
