DirectAdmin provides DNS Management tools to configure A, CNAME, MX, and DNSSEC records. These records ensure your domain resolves correctly for websites, email, and secure DNS.
Editing Records in DirectAdmin
1. Accessing DNS Management
- Log in to DirectAdmin.
- Go to Account Manager → DNS Management.
- Select the domain you want to edit.
2. Adding or Editing Records
- A Record
- Enter the hostname (e.g.,
@orwww) and the IP address. - Save changes.
- CNAME Record
- Enter the alias (e.g.,
blog) and the destination domain (e.g.,example.com). - Save changes.
- MX Record
- Enter the priority and mail server hostname (e.g.,
mail.example.com). - Save changes.
- DNSSEC
- If enabled by your server admin, go to the DNSSEC section.
- Generate keys and publish DS records.
- Provide DS records to your registrar.
- Save changes.
Best Practices
- Double-check hostnames and IPs before saving.
- MX records should point to a valid mail server hostname.
- DNSSEC requires registrar support — coordinate with your registrar.
- Allow up to 48 hours for DNS propagation.
